Had my wisdom teeth out here a couple weeks ago and the hospital has a great set-up, you don't feel like you are in the hospital until going into the operating/recovery room. However I feel that the reception ladies could be a slight bit nicer towards patients.

My wonderful father-in-law was admitted to Wakefield hospital in agony. He later discovered that a number of the discs in his back were pinching a nerve. Ouch! Thankfully he was given an expected surgery time that was within reason and what I would expect considering the cost of private health. While he spoke very highly of the surgeon who spoke to him regarding his condition and subsequent surgery, I never had the opportunity to meet him. I only witnessed the nurses, and boy, were they impersonal. I expected so much more from a private hospital. When I was admitted to the RAH all of the nurses were wonderful. Beyond helpful and personable. The 2 nurses I experienced at Wakefield were quite abrupt with, and quite dismissive of my father-in-law. I wasn't very impressed. The nurse also threw down his drink on the table with such force, that it resulted in it spilling over his newspaper. No apology. Not disastrous as such, but a little rude. While Hudsons Coffee is technically not part of the hospital, it is still within the building and therefore I will rate it as part of Wakefield Hospital too. Coffee was good, service was ok. Perhaps the worker had put up with grumpy nurses all day, and therefore seemed tired and not very chatty. Anyway, Wakefield is clean and the rooms are a nice size and the equipment is great. That is why I am giving it 2 stars and not 1. The 2 nurses I met though, need to retire. I hope they are not my father-in-law's nurses again.

Had to take my Mother in to Hospital recently. The Doctors & Nurses are the best I have seen.A special thank you also to the Paramedics. They do such a wonderful job.

Staff and hospital are fantastic but don't hold your breath when expecting money to be returned to you from health fund. I have had nothing but excuses and stuff ups for two weeks, constantly having to ring up and still waiting. Hospital demand their money up front before procedure but not so eager to return money to patient.

Grannie is in here. Have been to visit 4 or so times, she likes this better than the hospital who sent her home in a taxi (not sure if it was the other hospital simply being full - public- or the other hospital just negligent). This place took her seriously and conducted a brain scan to find the problem, she needed 2 weeks treatment and could not go home because she wasn't stabilized. She had to pay a gap but she did get her own room, likes the food and has a decent amount of space. The nursing staff who come in are super friendly and it is very quiet at night. This could be because it's full of old people..,They are apparently going to refurbish rooms/rebuild- I did note it was clean and in good repair but rooms look kind of 1990s.
