Great museum. Lots of interactive displays. Kids loved the train ride around the yard

Great fun filled day out with the family. The exhibits are an amazing part of our history. The miniature train rides are a favourite regardless of age.

It wasn't what I expected, but my two year old son had a great time anyway. He loved the little train ride that went around the grounds every half hour, we went 3 times. He enjoyed exploring the trains that you could access, and loved watching the miniature train display. Myself, I found it a bit boring, and would of liked to be able to explore more of the trains, but most of them have no access, I guess to preserve them. It's also very quiet in there. The staff were extremely friendly too, and if my son wanted to, i would go back!

Most of the train are prohibited for entry and therefore you can only look into the cabin from outside. The mini train ride is entertaining, with the train doing two laps around the facility. A big train is only run for events. There are many impressive cabins on display. Drinks and ice cream is also available for purchase. The museum reminded people of the day when trains used to be huge, with its wheels the size of a six foot man. The train ride will not run if the temperature is above about 35 as I recall. Visiting the museum also entitle you to 25% off at both the aviation museum and maritime museum. Staff is friendly and are willing to help, and defence discount is considered.

Awesome place with trains galore. Very friendly and helpful staff. The train rides were lots of fun. There's lots of interactive things to do. Great for anyone of any age, especially kids- even very large groups
