Commissioner of Police Grant Stevens There are some serious cultural issues within SAPOL. 8 out of 8 of the drug squad at the Sturt Police Station have been charged with corruption. My friend was stalked by one of the officers who sadly, as reported in the media, represents a culture of sexual assault and harassment. The Commissioner of Police Grant Stevens, eluded to his regret at not doing enough in his ascending to the role of Top Cop to notice or take any positive actions to protect our police from sexual assault. 1/3 of surveyed SAPOL Officers claimed to have been subjected to sexual harassment, sexual assault and even rape. These figures are appalling. I would be scared if a daughter of mine said she wanted to join SAPOL. I would be more concerned about her colleagues than interaction with citizens. I would advise any parent of young adults to accompany them to this police station. I believe there should be consideration of the implementation of a thorough and regular drug and alcohol policy. When you consider the evidence that links the excessive use of drugs and alcohol to victims of PTSD, and consider the situations our SAPOL Officers find themselves in often, it would be common sense and duty of care for their to be active monitoring of health and safety of SAPOL Officers. I do not know Commissioner Stevens position on regular drug and alcohol testing within SAPOL but have read in the media that the Police Association do not support a policy. I will be contacting Police Minister Cory Wingard to seek Government leadership on this issue. When I look at the young SAPOL recruits, I see good people with good intentions. I want them to be the best police they can be. I am unsure that the current leadership of SAPOL is qualified to change a culture they admit to turning a blind eye to. I am not sure the current leadership of SAPOL accept the ramifications of PTSD and the damage that comes from non identification and timely treatment. I am not sure the current leadership of SAPOL accept the evidence that links PTSD and drug and alcohol abuse. We have serious concerns about the fact that police investigate police and lack of accountability. The Police Ombudsman was closed and we were told it was ineffective. Ive seen in the media that an Officer from the Independent Commission Against Corruption was ejected from a SAPOL disciplinary hearing, he was representing us. As long as we have this unacceptably low level of accountability and transparency, how can we have real and immediate cultural change that protect our chikdren of today who want to be SAPOL Officers tomorrow. Contact your local Member of Parliament, give them a Google Maps review seeking regular drug and alcohol testing for all SAPOL Officers, for their sake and safety.
Would help if they answered their phone - sitting waiting for an hour already for an officer to make him/herself available to take fingerprints. At an outrageous cost of $131. Very poor service and attitude!
Do not trust a South Australian cop.
Absolutely atrocious service. Have been trying to call through since Friday 28/9/18, it is now Tuesday 2/10/18. All that happens is 2 mins of ringing and then the call is ended. All I want to know is if somone has found and handed in my keys I lost on Thursday night. I have not been able to get into my house and it was a long weekend.I would just like to know if they have been found before spending hundreds on replacement locks and keys.
Very Friendly Officers. Keep it up Guys
